Getting Crafty: Calendar Envelopes for the New Year!

Howdy pals!!!  It's 2019!  Happy New Year!!!  How are you?  We Patricks love the exciting prospect of a new year.  We're kind of nerdy about sitting down, notebooks/laptops in hand, creating new wish lists, intentions and such for the 12 months that lie before us.  This is a good time for us to do a quick sweep of the house and closets, creating a donation pile for our local Goodwill.  (I have 1 large bag of clothing, and two small bags of books ready to go!)

We are also kind of nerdy about fresh calendars and planners.  We love a beautiful calendar....they are hanging all over the house.  Practically a piece of art in itself.  My friend Barbara gave me a sweet little gift of handmade envelopes made from a British gardening magazine....and it reminded me that I could get a bit more life out of my retiring calendars.

I've had this beautiful Frida calendar hanging in my studio all year....artwork by various artists.  I've loved it, and today I decided to give these beautiful images one more use...as envelopes.  I dug out some old templates, traced them onto the calendar pages, and cut them out.  I used a bone folder to fold the edges crisply, and used Elmer's Extreme Glue Stick to adhere the sides.  When I'm ready to mail them, I'll use washi tape, or more glue stick to seal the top, and I'll attach a plain label for addressing them on the front.

I've had my templates for so long, I'm sorry I can't remember where I got them....but there are lots of resources online:  These mini's are cutethis is a useful size,  and hearts for Valentine's Day are fab!
I think these will delight the recipients who find these in their mailbox during the new year, don't you?

Wishing you all a restful day with the ones you love, and a bright, happy new year full of blessings and joy!  XOXO  -Dori
